MAL + Pascack Lacrosse Association (PLAX)
The recreational lacrosse program offered by the Montvale Athletic League (MAL) is in partnership with Pascack Lacrosse Association. The program is open to boys and girls in grades 2 through 8, residents of Hillsdale, Montvale, River Vale and Woodcliff Lake. Pascack Lacrosse is a member of the New Jersey Junior Lacrosse League (NJJLL) and Jersey Girls Lacrosse Association (JGLA). There is also a clinic program that is open to boys and girls ages K-3.
The mission of the MAL and Pascack Lacrosse Association is to provide boys and girls from the towns of Hillsdale, Montvale, River Vale and Woodcliff Lake the opportunity to experience playing the sport of lacrosse in order to enhance their physical activity, increase their physical skills, learn teamwork and personal dedication, and, most importantly, to have fun playing the fastest growing sport in America.
The core objectives of the Pascack Lacrosse youth recreational lacrosse program are as follows, in order of priority:
- Ensure that the maximum number of children begin and continue playing recreational lacrosse (i.e. lacrosse during the recreational season in March, April, and May) and that all children in the program are provided with quality and supportive coaching, the opportunity to improve their lacrosse skills, and reasonably equitable playing time
- Provide and/or promote opportunities for children seeking to 1) develop their skills more rapidly than the recreational program can accommodate; and/or 2) play at a higher level of competition than recreational lacrosse can provide
- Prepare players to transition successfully to high school lacrosse programs
